Logan Massa earned the Senior U.S. Championship Championship at 70kg for 2 years in a row. Mason Parris qualified also by winning the Junior World Championship in 2019, and the Senior U.S. Freestyle Championship; he qualified as a member of the 2021 Team USA Freestyle Wrestling Team by finishing 3rd at the Olympic Trials. Stevan Micic and Myles Amine won the Bronze Medal in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo for San Marino! Amine placed 2nd at the 2020 European Championships, and is now ranked 4th in the World at 86kg; he will compete in the World Championships in October.  Stevan Micic earned a Bronze Medal at the 2020 European Championships and was #1 seed at the 2020 Olympics. Adam Coon competed at the Pan-American Championships in March, 2020; he won the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials, but was unable to qualify for the 2021 Olympics so he signed a NFL contract with the Tennessee Titans as an offensive lineman; unfortunately, he was cut.

Michigan began its series with Central Michigan in 1984, and has won 22 of 28 matches through 2014. Coach Tom Borrelli is 6-12 against Michigan, and 5-9 against Coach McFarland. The Wolverines and Chippewas are now the top intrastate wrestling rivalry in the State of Michigan. There is expected to be 4,000 fans turning out for this match which will be the largest for wrestling fans in the state for a NCAA match.

NCAA Chooses 30 Sites for Wrestling Championship Events, 2016-2018: NONE in MICHIGAN

The NCAA on December 11, 2013 announced 523 sites have been awarded as hosts for 82 of its 89 championships for the 2014-18 seasons, making it the largest collection of host site announcements in association history. The original pool of bids included 1,984 submissions. The selected cities represent 39 states across the United States. Florida led the way as the state with the most championship site selections with 42 sites, while the state of Pennsylvania had 34 selections and Texas finished with 30. California and North Carolina rounded out the top five with 29 each. Michigan got the 2015 Field Hockey Championship on November 20-22 at Ocker Field.
