If my math is correct, 12 OL, 8 RB, 3 QB, 12 WR/TE=35 offense with 8 seniors departing: Robinson, Barnum, Omameh, Khoury, Smith, Mealer, Moore and Roundtree; 16 DL, 11 LB and 12 DB=39 Defense with 3 seniors departing: Campbell, Demens and Floyd (not counting Walk-on Kovacs). 35+39=74+3 specialists (placekicker/punter: Gibbons and Hagerup plus Wile)=77. 77 minus the departing 11 seniors=66 with 85 scholarships allowed. This would give us 19 depending on players who may or may not be renewed for a 5th year like We already have 24 commitments so this leaves us 3-4 (RB/WR on offense; OL and DE/Safety on defense) to go. We may oversign by 3, and we may get extra scholarships due to the medical issues.
I'm not positive and just speculating, but it looks like Hoke & Staff would like to carry the following scenario for scholarships in the 2013 season and beyond: Offense: 15 OL, 9 RB, 4 QB and 14 WR/TE=42; Defense: 15-16 DL, 12 LB and 15 DB=42-43 plus 3 placekickers/punters for 85 total.
