Of course, prior to 1970, there was only one captain chosen; since 1970, we've had as many as four chosen in a single season.

Don Moorehead, Dennis Franklin, Jim Harbaugh, Elvis Grbac, Tom Brady, Forest Evashevski, Benny Friedman and John Navarre were all elected Captains by their teammates.

Former Great Michigan Placekickers/Punters: Most of us have been thoroughly disappointed in our special teams including our kicking game over the years. We have had some outstanding kickers though: Jay Feely, Ali Haji-Sheik, Remy Hamilton, Don Bracken, J.D. Carlson, Bob Bergeron, Dana Coin, Mike Lantry, etc.

A placekicker or punter has never been elected Captain at Michigan. Our only All American kicker ever is Remy Hamilton.
