Comments: Cade McNamara was 43 for 71 for 425 yards and 5 TDs with his first start against Penn State; his efficiency rating is 134.08, and he ran 5 times for 7 yards and a TD; however, the hit he took against Penn State bruised his shoulder, and he was ineffective afterwards. Joe Milton was 5 starts; he is 80 of 141 for 1077 yards with 4 TDs and 4 interceptions; his quarterback efficiency rating is 124.59, but he didn't lead this team to offensive drives and scores. Milton also ran 38 times for a net of 109 yards for a TD after 6 sacks for 55 yards. Dylan McCaffrey is transferring to Northern Colorado, but opted out of the 2020 due to CoVid. Dan Villari signed for 2020, but will redshirt; he made the trip to Rutgers. J.J. McCarthy has pledged for 2021; some believe he will be the Quarterback of the future, 2021-2024. Andy Maddox, Peyton Smith, Max Wittwer, and Ren Hefley are Walk-ons. Walk-on Michael Sessa transferred! 2020 will be the first season that Michigan will utilize a Harbaugh developed quarterback to guide the team; previously over the past 5 seasons, Harbaugh has utilized Jake Rudock (Iowa), Wilton Speight who was recruited by Brady Hoke, transfer John O'Korn (Houston), and transfer Shea Patterson (Mississippi). The only previous quarterback utilized by Harbaugh that he recruited was Brandon Peters who transferred to Illinois, and McCaffrey was the second Harbaugh recruited quarterback to transfer. We have recruited talent at this position; however, neither Harbaugh nor Quarterbacks Coach Ben McDaniels nor Coach Pep Hamilton have raised their levels or developed the talent.

Harbaugh replaced Pep Hamilton with Ben McDaniels as Quarterback Coach

CommentsZak Zinter had 4 starts, and that is very impressive for a True Frosh; however, Zinter was replaced by Chuck Filiaga in the Penn State game, and Trevor Keegan played Left Guard. It is also a point of reference as to how weak our offensive line has been in recruiting and developing players over Harbaugh's 6 year tenure. Trevor Keegan and Griffin Korican are backups on both the Right and Left Guard positions.

Comments: Andrew Vastardis had 4 starts at Center, and was guilty of several holding calls against Indiana; he didn't make the trip to Rutgers nor did he play against Penn State due to injury. Zach Carpenter played against Minnesota and Indiana, and started against Rutgers and Penn State; Carpenter entered the transfer portal on December 10. Reece Atteberry redshirted. Kraig Correll made the trip to Rutgers, but hasn't played yet. Greg Crippen, Tristan Bounds, and Raheem Anderson have pledged for 2021.

Offensive line began the season with a walk-on starter, and now has a True Frosh starter along with two redshirt freshman starters. We need to recruit and develop players to have a strong offensive line if we are to compete for championships in the Big Ten Conference.

CommentsMichael Barrett had 6 starts; he has 43 tackles, 2 for loss with a sack and forced fumble that Jeter recovered for a TD; he was the best player on the field defensively against Minnesota and with special teams for Michigan in the opener with a 66 yard kickoff return, and fumble recovery on a kickoff. Barrett left the MSU game with an injury, but returned and played the last 4 games. Anthony Solomon was in on 5 tackles as backup; he didn't play against Rutgers, but returned to play against Penn State. Freshman William Mohan also played at Viper with a tackle against Minnesota, but didn't played since so he redshirted.

Comments: Josh Ross had 6 starts; he had 53 tackles plus an interception, a pass break up, and a sack; he was the leading tackler on defense. Josh Ross 2018 Highlights Kalel Mullings had a pass break up, and played in all 6 games on special teams; he got his first tackle against Wisconsin. Geoffrey Reeves played on special teams in the first two games, and took a block in the back penalty on kickoff against MSU on the last possession so he didn't play against Indiana, Penn State or Rutgers, but did play against Wisconsin. Nikhai Hill-Green did not play against Minnesota, Indiana, or Rutgers, but did play against MSU, Penn State and Wisconsin with a tackle; he redshirted. Osman Savage and Charles Thomas are in the transfer portal. Devin Gil transferred to South Florida. Tyler McLaurin and Junior Colson have signed for 2021!

Harrell, Jaylen 32 OLB-SAM 3 Fr. 6'4" 235 Backup n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a

Comments: Ben Vansumeren had 4 starts at SAM; he had 8 tackles in 6 games which includes one on kickoff team; he injured his shoulder against Penn State. There was a big drop off at this position with the departure of Josh Uche. David Ojabo and Jaylen Harrell were backups; Ojabo played against the Gophers, MSU, Wisconsin, and Indiana with one tackle. Harrell played against MSU, Wisconsin, Penn State, and Rutgers, but not Indiana; he got in on a tackle on kickoff team against the Scarlet Knights, and also made a tackle against Penn State so he is eligible to redshirt.

Players who were on the Spring Roster that didn't make the Fall Roster include: Ramsey Baty, Mahdi Hazime, Lawrence Reeves, Andrew Russell, and Jack Young. Izaak Gerkis and Leon Franklin were re-added to the Fall Roster recently. More and more walk-ons are playing larger roles on the Michigan Football Team because the heralded players that were recruited by Harbaugh and staff haven't developed as expected; many have left the team and transferred to other schools. At least 20 walk-on players have contributed this season or made the travel teams.
