Observations on the win over Maryland, 59-18

Michigan converted 6 red zones for 38 points; Maryland capitalized on 3 red zones for 18 points. The Wolverines scored 7 points off one Terrapin turnover plus another touchdown after a blocked punt.

Offense had 24 first downs, 503 yards on 75 plays with 151 on the ground; the Wolverines were 8 of 16 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Cade McNamara was 21 of 28 for 259 yards and 2 TDs; he ran 3 times for 8 yards. Hassan Haskins ran 20 times for 78 yards and a TD. J.J. McCarthy ran once for 14 yards, and hit 5 of 5 for 58 yards and a TD. Donovan Edwards caught 10 passes for 170 yards including a 77 yard TD. Cornelius Johnson caught 4 passes for 39 yards. Daylen Baldwin caught 4 passes for 31 yards. Andrel Anthony caught and 18 yarder, and Mike Sainristil caught a 13 yarder for a TD; Luke Schoonmaker caught 2 passes for 11 yards and a TD. Roman Wilson caught 2 passes for 25 yards. A.J. Henning caught 2 passes for 2 yards, but fumbled; it was luckily recovered by Hassan Haskins. Jordan Mosley and Corey Coley led the Terp defense with 5 tackles each; Ruben Hyppolite and Lavonte Gater had 4 stops each, and Gater forced a fumble.

Defense held Maryland to 20 first downs, 359 yards in 77 plays with 181 on the ground; the Terps were 3 of 16 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Tualia Tagovailoa hit 19 of 33 for 178 yards and was sacked twice; he threw an interception that J.T. Turner ran back for a TD. Colby McDonald ran 18 times for 68 yards. Chigoziem Okonkwo caught 5 passes for 36 yards. Josh Ross led the Wolverine defense with 8 tackles.

Special Teams gained a blocked punt by Matt Torey, and our offense scored a TD off it; then, they executed a perfect lateral pass from Michael Barrett to A.J. Henning for an 81 yard TD. Jake Moody hit his only field goal attempt; he had 10 kickoffs with 6 touchbacks. Brad Robbins punted three times for a 45.3 yard average with two downed inside the 20. A.J. Henning had 3 punt returns for 17 yards, and recovered his fumble; he also had a 16 yard kickoff return. Maryland hit one of two field goal attempts, and punted 5 times with the one blocked. It looked like the entire travel squad of 74 players all had a chance to play except Blake Corum who apparently wasn't to play unless needed.
