Observations on the first half with Maryland, 24-3

Michigan converted 4 red zones for 24 points; Maryland capitalized on one red zone for 7 points. Neither team turned the ball over, but the Wolverines did block a Terrapin punt which is like a turnover.

Offense had 17 first downs, 263 yards on 48 plays with 91 on the ground; the Wolverines were 5 of 10 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Cade McNamara was 17 of 23 for 143 yards and a TD; he ran 3 times for 8 yards. Hassan Haskins ran 15 times for 67 yards and a TD. J.J. McCarthy ran once for 14 yards, and hit 4 of 4 for 29 yards and a TD. Donovan Edwards caught 8 passes for 64 yards. Cornelius Johnson caught 4 passes for 39 yards. Daylen Baldwin caught 3 passes for 25 yards. Andrel Anthony caught and 18 yarder, and Mike Sainristil caught a 13 yarder for a TD; Luke Schoonmaker caught 2 passes for 11 yards and a TD. Jordan Mosley led the Terp defense with 5 tackles

Defense held Maryland to 8 first downs, 126 yards in 34 plays with 39 on the ground; the Terps were 2 of 8 in 3rd down conversions. Tualia Tagovailoa hit 11 of 19 for 87 yards and was sacked once by Vincent Gray. Colby McDonald ran 8 times for 32 yards. Chigoziem Okonkwo caught 3 passes for 31 yards. Josh Ross led the Wolverine defense with 6 tackles. Michigan held a 5 minute time of possession advantage that resulted in 14 more offensive plays.

Special Teams gained a blocked punt by Matt Torey, and scored a TD. Jake Moody hit his only field goal attempt; he had 4 kickoffs with 2 touchbacks. Brad Robbins punted twice for a 45.5 yard average with one downed inside the 20. A.J. Henning had 3 punt returns for 17 yards, and recovered his fumble; he also had a 16 yard kickoff return. Maryland hit one of two field goal attempts, and punted 4 times with the one block.
