The record speaks for itself 11-41 losses in 52 games since 1970. Please note the Ann Arbor Pioneer High School has won 70.7% of their football games compared to Ann Arbor Huron's 48.3%. Ann Arbor High School claimed the State Championship in football 15 times in 1896, 1897, 1898, 1899, 1908, 1909, 1923, 1940, 1941, 1943, 1952, 1955, 1962, 1984 and 1987; the 1984 and 1987 titles came in State Playoffs. Ann Arbor High School was renamed Ann Arbor Pioneer High School in 1967. Ann Arbor Huron was State Runner-up in 1997. Pioneer won the Five-A League Conference Championship in 1935, 1940, 1941, 1943, 1945, 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, Six-A-League Conference Championships (after Kalamazoo joined the Conference in 1953) in 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1960, 1962, 1964 and 1970; also, the Seven-A-League Championship in 1974. Pioneer also won the South Central League Conference Championship in 1975, 1978, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1988, 1990, 1993 and 1996 while the River Rats have only won two South Central Conference Championships in 1987 and 1997. Both teams are now in the Southeastern Conference, and Pioneer won  Conference Championships in 2002, 2004, 2011, and 2012. The highest enrollment at Pioneer was in 2005 with 3812 and at Huron in 2006 with 2713. Ann Arbor Skyline opened Fall, 2008. In 2015, Pioneer had and estimated enrollment of 2,025 students, Huron had 1,795, and Skyline had 1,703. Ann Arbor Community High School has never fielded its own football team.

The original rivalry was to begin in 1969, but politics tabled it until 1970; it could have been scheduled as early as 1967.
