Observations on the first half with UNLV, 21-0
Michigan converts one red zone from a Rebel turnover for 7 points; UNLV crosses midfield on the last play of the first half, and fails to capitalize on one Wolverine turnover.
Offense gains 233 net yards, and 9 first downs in 29 offensive plays. Jake Rudock has 6 of 11 for 62 yards, and a TD plus an interception. DeVeon Smith logged 29 yards in 10 carries, and caught a 5 yard TD pass. Ty Isaac came off the bench to score a 76 yard TD; it was the longest play from scrimmage since 2012. Jehu Chesson took a 36 yard handoff into the end zone with great blocks from Henry Poggi and Amara Darboh. Mo Ways got his first reception as a Wolverine! Joe Kerridge came back from injury to get two receptions, and Darboh also had two grabs.
Defense held UNLV to 6 first downs and 93 net yards. Black Decker was 4 of 10 for 20 yards, and had 6 carries for 21 yards. Keith Whitely had 9 carries for 25 yards. The Wolverines had 4 tackles each by James Ross, Joe Bolden and Desmond Morgan. Channing Stribling got a 30 yard interception return and a pass break up; Jourdan Lewis had 2 pass break ups. Matt Godin had an early sack, but Decker's knee didn't hit the ground so he took a negative play into a 16 yard gain for a first down.
Kenny Allen continues to pound long kickoffs, and the kickoff coverage remains solid. Jabrill Peppers had a nice 24 yard punt return.
