Observations on the first half with Purdue, 28-10
Michigan converts two red zones into 14 points, and Purdue responds with 7 points in one red zone at the end of the half. Michigan and Purdue both score 7 points off turnovers.
Denard Robinson had 84 yards in 14 rushes, and was 6 of 8 in passing for a TD. Offense had 201 net yards with 115 on the ground. We dominated time of possession by 8 minutes. Fitzgerald Touissaint had 9 carries for only 13 yards, but 2 TDs. Devin Gardner and Jeremy Gallon each had 2 catches for 31 yards, but Gardner caught the only TD. Robert Maci leads the Boilermakers with 5 tackles and a forced fumble on Vincent Smith. Michigan has 12 first downs and is 7 of 9 in 3rd down conversions.
Defense was led by Kenny Demens with 4 tackles, Jake Ryan and J.T. Floyd had 3 tackles and Ryan got a sack. Ramon Taylor scampered for a 63 yard TD on the interception. Defense forced the Boilermakers into 3 three and outs. Purdue has only 113 net offensive yards and 7 first downs with only 24 on the ground.
Brendon Gibbons barely missed a 44 yard field goal when it hit the crossbar, and bounced back instead of over. Drew Dileo had a nice 10 yard punt return. Matt Wile had 5 kickoffs with only one touchback. Dennis Norfleet had a 19 yard kickoff return, and Delonte Hollowell recovered the kickoff return fumble.
