Observations on the first half with Notre Dame, 27-13

Michigan converts three red zones into 17 points including one Irish turnover into a TD while Notre Dame gains 10 points in two red zone trips.

Offense looks great! Gardner is 13 of 20 for 180 yards and 2 TDs to Jeremy Gallon; he ran for 50 yards on 5 carries for a TD. Fitz Touissaint has 9 carries for 24 yards. Devin Funchess and Jake Butt have 2 catches each. We have 268 net yards in 37 plays with a four minute time of possession advantage, and 13 first downs. We have only been forced into one three and out, and one punt. Michigan is 4 of 7 in 3rd down conversions.

Defense has got to play better in the second half. The Irish are targeting Ramon Taylor, but he has responded with 5 tackles. Jarrod Wilson and James Ross have 3 tackles each. Blake Countess with a big interception that resulted in 7 points. Rees is 11 of 23 for 146 yards, and a TD. Carlisle has 7 carries for 32 yards. Irish have 199 net yards in 36 plays with 9 first downs. Notre Dame is 3 of 9 in 3rd and 4th down conversions.

Brendon Gibbons sets a Michigan record with 16 field goals in a row, and converts on two. Dennis Norfleet recovers his fumble on a punt return, and and Irish punt return goes for 15 yards.

In the second half, we need good defense to hold off their come from behind attempts. Go Blue!
