Observations on the first half with Nebraska, 6-7
Michigan converts the only red zone in the game for 3 points, and scores nothing off one Nebraska turnover. Nebraska uses a "hurry up" offense to exploit our defensive backs on a 32 yard TD pass.
Offense continues to look bad! Denard is only 6 of 11 for 55 yards, and has run for 46 yards on 10 carries. He injured his elbow and his effectiveness or participation in the 2nd half is questionable. Offense has 11 first downs and is 4 of 10 in 3rd down efficiency. Russell Bellomy comes in and bombs his big red zone debut, and was 0 for 4 in passing. Fitzgerald Touissaint has 24 yards in 8 carries. Total offense is only 137 net yards. Roy Roundtree caught a 32 yarder and had another catch reversed under review. We had an 11 minute time of possession advantage, but couldn't do anything with it.
Defense played pretty well except the one bad drive. We held them to 2 three and outs. They are only 3 of 6 on third down, and we force a turnover. The have 152 net yards with 115 in the air. Martinez is 8 of 11, and has run for 22 yards in 5 carries.
Brendon Gibbons hit both field goals including his longest of 52 yards; Matt Wile missed a 53 yarder. Jeremy Gallon continues to look bad on punt returns muffing a catch at the 10 that goes to the 2.
2nd Half will be a nailbiter. Hopefully, we'll come out on top. Go Blue!
