Observations on the first half with Indiana, 3-7
Indiana converts one red zone for 7 points; Michigan could only manage 3 points in their lone red zone trip. Neither team has any turnovers.
Offense is inept, and John O'Korn looks terrible as its leader. Offense came up with 6 first downs, 110 net yards, 64 on the ground in 31 offensive plays while holding the ball for 16 minutes. They were zero for 7 in 3rd down conversions with two "3 and outs." John O'Korn was 5 of 10 for 46 yards, sacked twice, and ran 2 times for -11 yards. DeVeon Smith gained 47 yards in 6 carries, and Chris Evans gained 21 yards in 4 carries. Ty Issac grabbed a 21 yard pass on a screen, and carried 3 times for 2 yards. I hope Harbaugh gives Shane Morris a shot in the second half because O'Korn is not doing the job after understanding what he needs to do with practice all week. Tegray Scales leads the Hoosiers with 5 tackles.
Defense has kept us in the game, but Indiana gained 141 yards, 51 on the ground with 8 first downs with 3 of 7 in 3rd down conversions. Richard Lagow was 7 of 10 for 90 yards. Devine Redding gained 36 yards in 13 carries, and Camion Patrick gained 10 yards in 4 carries for a TD. Nick Westbrook has 3 catches for 41 yards including a 22 yarder. Luke Timian grabbed a 31 yarder. Dymonte Thomas led the defense with 6 tackles, Ben Gedeon and Michael McCray have 5 each. We forced Indiana into 4 punts.
Special Teams blocked a punt, and that led to our only red zone. Kenny Allen hit his only field goal attempt, and punted 4 times for a 40.5 yard average including 3 inside the 20 yard line, and 2 inside the 10. We had better field position throughout the half, but couldn't take advantage of it. Both the punt and kickoff return teams look bad
Indiana will win this game unless the offense gets something going. Go Blue!
