Observations on the first half with Northwestern, 0-0
Michigan gains two red zones, and come up with zero points on a blocked field goal and a 4th down stop by the Wildcats. Each team gains a turnover, and cannot score.
The Wolverine offense is as bad as any I've seen over the past 50 seasons as they gain 3 possessions in Wildcat territory late in the 2nd quarter, and can't come up with any score. Devin Gardner was 6 of 15 for 49 yards and an interception. Amara Darboh gets 3 catches for 34 yards. Drake Johnson carries 6 times for 24 yards, and Deveon Smith gains 29 yards on 6 carries. The Wolverine offense gains 107 net yards, 6 first downs in 30 plays and is one of 8 in 3rd and 4th down conversions.
Defense holds the Wildcats to 130 net yards in 38 plays with 3 of 10 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Jake Ryan leads the defense with 7 tackles, and an interception. Frank Clark has a sack and a coupled tipped passes, and Mario Ojemudia also got a sack. Matt Godin got an interception. Trevor Siemian is 13 of 20 for 119 yards in the air with 2 interceptions. Kyle Prater has 5 catches for 56 yards. Blake Countess and Ramon Taylor look bad in coverage.
Special Teams messed up again with Wile getting a field goal blocked. Dennis Norfleet didn't make the trip so Amara Darboh returned a punt for 9 yards. Each team has punted 4 times. Northwestern fumbles a punt snap, and we are so bad on coverage that we can't even cover the punter.
Second half won't be exciting, but hopefully we'll score and win. Go Blue!
