Observations on the first half with Nebraska, 17-10
Michigan converts 3 red zones for 17 points; Nebraska earns no red zoned, but scores 3 points off one Michigan turnover and adds a big play TD of 54 yards.
Offense has 230 net yards, 132 on the ground, 13 first downs, and was 5 of 9 on 3rd down conversions for a 13 minute time of possession advantage. We had two 3 and outs plus the miserable last drive to end the half. Denard Robinson was 6 of 11 for 98 yards, 1 TD and 1 interception and ran 16 times for 75 yards and another TD. Fitzgerald Touissaint had 53 yards on 13 carries. Roy Roundtree caught a 46 yarder to set up our first score. Lavonte David has 12 tackles for Nebraska.
Defense was solid except for the 54 yard TD play. Nebraska only has 125 yards, 60 on the ground and was zero for 5 on 3rd down conversions with only 5 first downs. Kovacs has 4 tackles, Demens has 3 to lead the defense. Ryan VanBergen has 2 tackles for loss and a tipped pass. We've held Martinez to 33 yards and Burkhead to 4.
Special Teams were solid! Gibbons hit a 42 yard field goal. Wile had 3 kickoff and kickoff coverage was good on two of those. Gallon had 3 punt returns for 22 yards, and Martavious Odoms had 2 returns for 46 yards. That Brett Maher was really something hitting a 51 yarder against the wind, but he had two shanked punts.
Second Half will be tough! We need to maintain time of possession advantage, zero turnovers and force Nebraska into at least one turnover. The Cornhuskers get the ball to start the half. Go Blue!!!
