Observations on the first half with Minnesota, 14-7

Michigan gained one red zone for 7 points, and Minnesota also capitalized on their only red zone for 7 points; however, the difference so far is two interceptions by the Wolverines resulting in 14 points.

Offense looks bad! The "explosive" offense has gained 98 yards with 43 on the ground; they have converted 3 of 7 in 3rd down with a measly 5 first downs. Bryce Underwood is 6 of 9 for 55 yards, and ran 6 times for 10 yards after deduction of a sack. Jordan Marshall had 7 carries for 32 yards. Savion Hiter had 3 carries for 1 yard. J.J. Buchanan caught 2 passes for 21 yards. Andrew Marsh caught 2 passes for 17 yards. Hogan Hansen has two receptions for 17 yards. Zach Harden, Kerry Brown, and Joey Gerlach led the Gophers with 4 tackles each.

Defense came up big with two takeaways after the Gophers grabbed an early lead! Minnesota gained 142 yards with 46 on the ground; they were 2 of 5 in 3rd down with 10 first downs. Drake Lindsey hit 7 of 12 for 96 yards, but unloaded two interception turnovers. T.J. Thomas has 7 carries for 23 yards. Darius Taylor has 8 carries for 13 yards and a TD, and caught a 33 yard pass. Noah Jennings has 5 receptions for 64 yards. The Gophers had 3 more minutes in time of possession that resulted in 4 more offensive plays. Rod Moore led the Wolverines with 5 tackles. Aisa Moa had 4 tackles. Nate Staehling scored a TD on a 79 yard pass interception. Smith Smowden also had an interception that resulted in our only red zone opportunity.

Special Teams punted 4 times by Cam Brown for a 44.8 yard average with one downed inside the 20. They also had a punt block, but our ridiculous offense used that great play to go "3 and out."

Second Half could be another nailbiter especially if Minnesota scores on its first drive. Offensive adjustments must be made if we are to win this game. Go Blue!
