Observations on the first half with Indiana, 15-17

Michigan gained 4 red zones, but could only convert 3 for 9 points. Indiana converted both red zones for 14 points. The Wolverines could not score off one Hoosier turnover.

Offense gained 14 first downs, 276 yards on 40 plays with 110 yards on the ground, and were 4 of 9 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Shea Patterson was 12 of 18 for 166 yards and a TD. Karan Higdon ran 10 times for 62 yards, but Indiana stopped our running game for zero TDs on the ground and in the red zones. Nick Eubanks caught a 41 yard TD pass. Zach Gentry set up the final red zone with a 42 yard catch. Ronnie Bell caught a 31 yarder. We dominated time of possession by 5 minutes, but only gained a 4 play advantage. Andrew Stueber replaced Juwann Bushell-Beatty at Right Tackle.

Defense could not hold the Hoosiers! Indiana gained 11 first downs, 249 yards on 36 plays including 144 on the ground; they were 4 of 8 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. We forced the Hoosiers into one punt and one turnover. Peyton Ramsey was 8 of 14 for 105 yards and a TD; he ran 3 times for 51 yards setting up one red zone. Stevie Scott ran 17 times for 96 yards and a TD. Devin Bush led the defense with 7 tackles.

Special Teams was solid! Justin Moody hit 3 field goals replacing Quinn Nordin. Moody also hit 4 kickoffs with no returns including a touchback. Donovan Peoples-Jones had an 8 yard punt return. Indiana's strategy is to not kick off to us deep, and simply pooch kick us into field position.

Second Half should be a dogfight! Indiana has no respect for us! Indiana is better prepared, and has a great game plan; our coaches are not helping our team adjust. Harbaugh's clock management at the end of the half was extremely poor, and cost us a score. They are using the whole field and creating one on one matchups that they think they can win, and they are. Hopefully, we'll adjust and respond better in the second half! Go Blue!
