Observations on the first half with Bowling Green, 28-14
Michigan comes up with a 297 yard first quarter catapulting them to a 21-0 lead; then, after Denard Robinson goes out with a knee injury, the Wolverines hold on to a 28-14 halftime lead. The Wolverines convert 3 red zones into 21 points while the Falcons get 7 points off one red zone. Bowling Green gets 7 points off one Michigan turnover by Stephen Hopkins.
Denard Robinson has 5 carries for 129 yards and 2 TDs and goes 4 of 4 for another 60 yards in the air. Michigan offense finishes the half with 428 net yards of total offense, 17 first downs and 4 of 6 in 3rd and 4th down conversions to gain a 3 minute time of possession advantage. Devin Gardiner goes 6 of 9 for 82 yards and a TD while Tate Forcier goes 6 of 6 for 45 yards. Michael Shaw gets 7 carries for 38 yards and a TD. Roy Roundtree gets 6 catches for 79 yards and draws an interference call setting up the last TD. Jeremy Gallon gets his first TD catch as a Wolverine. Dwayne Woods had 9 tackles for Bowling Green along with a pass break up.
Defense had a decent first half forcing the Falcons into two 3 and outs and 3 punts until Cameron Gordon lost contain on the 71 yard bubble pass TD to Tyrone Pronty. Jonas Mouton has 4 tackles including a sack to lead the defense. Kenny Demens is seeing a lot of action at middle linebacker, he and Ezeh have 3 tackles each. Kovacs and Gordon have 4 tackles each. The Falcons have managed 164 yards in total offense, but only 5 first downs and 16 yards in net rushing.
We had no punts and no field goal attempts, and Stonum fell down on one kickoff return. Drew Dileo and Jeremy Gallon each had nice punt returns of 14 and 15 yards. Seth Broekhuisen is handling kickoffs and PATs. Coaches goofed up with two number 9s on the field with Avery and Odoms on a punt return. We also had 5 penalties for 43 yards with a couple personal fouls of blocking below the waist.
Second Half will give us a chance to see more reserves in this blow out.
