Observations on the first half with BYU, 31-0
Michigan converts three red zones, and a 60 yard TD run by DeVeon Smith for a 31-0 halftime advantage over the Cougars.
Offense looks great!!! Jake Rudock is 9 of 14 for 132 yards, and ran 5 times for 36 yards and 2 TDs. DeVeon Smith has 117 yards in 13 carries for another TD. Amara Darboh has 3 catches for 43 yards and another TD. Offense started the game with a 3 & Out, and then put together 5 straight scoring drives. Offense dominated time of possession by 10 minutes which resulted in 14 more offensive plays; the Wolverines had 317 net yards, 185 on the ground, 15 first downs, and were 4 of 7 on 3rd down conversions.
Defense also looks great!!! They held the Cougars to 4 first downs, 6 punts on 5 "3 and outs," and 62 net yards. Tanner Mangum was only 4 of 13 for 25 yards, and was sacked twice by Willie Henry and Maurice Hurst. Michigan gave up only one big play, a 29 yard run by Adam Hine that Delano Hillgrabbed on a TD saving tackle. Ryan Glasgow led the defense with 3 tackles, two for loss.
Kenny Allen continues to boom kickoffs, and hit a 40 yard field goal. Ben Gedeon came up with 2 tackles on kickoff coverage. Brian Cole and Dymonte Thomas did not dress due to injury; Joe Kerridge dressed, but isn't playing.
