There were 257 commitments to 12 Big Ten Football Programs with 23 of those being Junior College or Post Graduates (13 more than last year); Minnesota and Indiana led the JC/PG charge with 6 each. 91 of those recruits were considered to be 4 stars, and 141 of those 257 commitments (55%) were from Big Ten states. The State of Ohio has the most NCAA Division I Football prospects of any state in the Big Ten region. There are 49 Big Ten pledges from the State of Ohio and 14 of those are with the Buckeyes. Michigan did the second best job recruiting in the State of Ohio with 8 pledges. Minnesota had the most pledges with 27, and Iowa had 26. Michigan and Minnesota had the most commitments their home states with 9 and 10 respectively. Northwestern had the most pledges in Pennsylvania with 5, and even more than in their home state. Iowa only had 3 pledges in Iowa, and Nebraska only had one pledge in their home state. Iowa pulled more commitments in Illinois that the Illini with 6. Urban Warfare

According to Tom Lemming of CBS Sports and MaxPreps, Texas has 404 Divison I Football recruits, Florida has 350, California has 299, Georgia has 175, Ohio has 178, Louisiana has 95, Pennsylvania has 94, Alabama has 90, Illinois has 78, Michigan has 74, Virginia has 60, North Carolina has 58, Arizona has 54, Mississippi has 52, New Jersey has 50, Indiana has 46, Tennessee has 45, South Carolina and Maryland have 44 each, Washington has 37, Oklahoma has 35, Utah has 30, Colorado has 28, Arkansas has 29, New York has 28, Missouri 26 and New York has 24. One could say that a Division I Football coach may be nearly 14 times more effective recruiting in Texas as compared to Arkansas. Coaches need to go where the top talent is, and retain the talent in their home state. We only have 520 Divison I Football prospects in our 9 state region for 12 teams to share where Texas has 404 prospects in their state with 12 Division I teams in Texas.
