Observations on the first half with Rutgers, 43-0

The game didn't start out well with the Wolverines held to two "3 and outs, " and a turnover in their first three possessions; however, they rebounded to gain 5 red zones for 36 points. Rutgers had 10 first half possession with 9 "3 and outs," and a turnover. Michigan scored 7 points off the Scarlett Knights gift.

Offense gained 311 net yards, 211 on the ground with 10 first downs, and were 2 of 6 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Jabrill Peppers had 3 carries for 74 yards and 2 TDs. Wilton Speight hit 6 of 13 passes for 100 yards and a TD. Chris Evans had 7 carries for 85 yards. Ty Isaac had 5 carries for 24 yards and a TD. Khalid Hill had 2 carries for 2 red zone TDs. Amara Darboh caught 2 for 65 yards, and Jehu Chesson caught 2 for 34 yards including a 30 yard TD. We were forced into 3 punts. Trevor Morris led Rutgers with 7 stops.

Defense was incredible! Rutgers had one net yard with -5 yards rushing, and were forced into 9 punts and a turnover. Ben Gedeon led the troops with 5 tackles and a sack. Taco Charlton also had a sack. Our time of possession advantage by almost 2 minutes gave us 8 more offensive plays.

Special Teams were solid on kickoff coverage. Kenny Allen punted 3 times for a 45 yard average with a "coffin corner" at the one. Garrett Moores scored a 2 point conversion on an extra point.
