Observations on the first half with Northwestern, 3-6

Each team comes up with one red zone for 3 points, and neither team turned the ball over.

Offense gained 109 net yards. Gardner was 7 of 12 for 80 yards. Offense had 9 first downs, but was 0 for 5 in 3rd down conversions. We only had 3 negative plays, but almost 3 picks. Derrick Green started the game, and had 7 carries for 27 yards; his backup, DeVeon Smith had 3 carries for 13 yards. Both Gallon and Funches had 3 catches each. Traveon Henry had 9 tackles for the Wildcats.

Defense was led by Courtney Avery and James Ross with 5 tackles each; Ross had a sack, and we had two 3 and outs. Thomas Gordon and Desmond Morgan had 4 tackles each. Northwestern had 138 net yards, 8 first downs, and was 5 of 11 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Each team was forced into 3 punts. Siemian and Colter were 12 of 15 for 77 yards. The Wildcats had 9 more offensive plays as a result of almost a 2 minute time of possession advantage.

Matt Wile missed a 51 yarder, and Gibbons hit a 25 yarder. Jehu Chesson had a nice tackle on punt coverage. Norfleet had 2 returns for 55 yards.

Second Half will be anyone's game. Hopefully we'll win this one. Go Blue!
