Observations on the win over Central Michigan, 63-3

Michigan had 6 red zone trips for 42 points; Central Michigan had one red zone trip for 3 points. The Wolverines got two turnovers, and converted them into 14 points; the Chippewas and gained 3 points off one Wolverine turnover.

Offense amassed 616 net yards with 381 on the ground; they were 9 of 13 in 3rd and 4th down conversions with 35 first downs. Bryce Underwood hit 16 of 25 passes for 235 yards with one TD and one interception; he also ran 9 times for 114 yards, and 2 TDs. Justice Haynes ran 14 times for 104 yards and a TD; he also caught a 16 yard pass. Jordan Marshall ran 10 times for 52 yards and 2 TDs. Bryson Kuzdzal ran 5 times for 30 yards and a TD. Jasper Parker ran 9 times for 45 yards and a TD. Andrew Marsh caught a 30 yard pass, and ran an end around for 23 yards and a TD. Semaj Morgan caught 4 passes for 69 yards and a TD. Donoven McCulley caught 3 passes for 36 yards. Channing Goodwin caught 3 passes for 33 yards. Hogan Hansen caught 3 passes for 43 yards. Michigan had a 6 minute time of possession advantage, and it led to 27 more offensive plays. Elijah Rickard and Elijah Gordon led the Chips with 8 tackles each.

Defense held the Chippewas to 139 yards of total offense with 79 on the ground; they had 8 first downs and were 6 of 17 in 3rd and 4th down conversions with 5 "three and outs." Angel Flores hit 7 of 12 passes for 24 yards, and ran 9 times for 76 yards. Jimmy Rolder and Jaishawn Barham led the Wolverine defense with 6 tackles each; Barham had 2 sacks. Cole Sullivan had 5 tackles. Jyaire Hill had 4 tackles including a sack.

Special Teams had no punts, and missed their only field goal attempt. Andrew Marsh had a 16 yard kickoff return, and Semaj Morgan ran back 3 punts for 2 yards. We forced Central into 6 punts.

The Nebraska game next week will not be easy. Hopefully, the team will be well-prepared, healthy, and they'll play much better in their second road game. Go Blue!
