Observations on the win over Nebraska, 30-27

Nebraska gained 4 red zones, but came up with only 13 points; Michigan had one red zone, and scored 3 points. The Wolverine defense really shined in the red zone today. The Wolverines scored 7 points off one Cornhusker turnover, and Nebraska scored 3 points off one Michigan miscue.

Offense gained 391 total yards with 286 on the ground, and 16 first downs; they were 4 of 12 in 3rd down conversions. Bryce Underwood was 12 of 22 for 105 yards, and ran 8 times for 61 yards and a TD. Justice Haynes scored on a 75 yard TD, and ran 17 times for 149 yards; he also had 3 receptions for 12 yards. Donoven McCulley caught 3 passes for 39 yards. Semaj Morgan caught 2 passes for 22 yards. Marlin Klein caught 2 passes for 21 yards. The final drive that ended in a field goal clinched the game; it began with 12:40 to go, and ended at 3:54 to go; it provide the Wolverines a two score lead that put the game out of reach for Nebraska. James Wright had 10 tackles for the Big Red.

Defense gave up 351 net yards with 308 in the air including a 52 yard "Hail Mary" with one second to go in the half. Jacory Barney caught 6 passes for 120 yards and 2 TDs. Dominic Raiola hit 30 of 41 for 308 yards with 3 TDs and one interception; he was sacked 7 times for 49 yards, and he was harassed by Edge Jaishawn Barham throughout the afternoon. Emmett Johnson ran 19 times for 65 yards, but the Huskers netted only 43 yards due to the sacks. The Cornhuskers had 23 first downs including 3 by penalty, and were 4 of 15 in 3rd and 4th down conversions; the Hillman taunting penalty was inexcusable, and he really needs to look in the mirror with his immaturity for the incident. Luke Lindenmeyer caught 7 passes for 60 yards. Ernest Hausmann led the defense with 9 tackles including a sack; Jayden Sanders had 8 tackles, Brandyn Hillman had 7 tackles, and Cole Sullivan had 6 tackles plus and interception. Barham had 4 tackles, two for loss with a sack and a quarterback hit. Derrick Moore and Rayshaun Benny were credited with 2 sacks each. Jimmy Rolder had 5 tackles including a sack.

Special Teams hit 3 field goals including a 56 yarder by Dominic Zvada, and downed one of four punts inside the 20 with a tackle by Joe Taylor at the 3. Kendrick Bell made a big play leaping to recover the onside kickoff with 1:34 to play. Punter Hudon Hollenbeck had to make a tackle on Barney after a 20 yard punt return.

Bye week is a great chance to heal up, and get ready for Wisconsin! Go Blue!
