Observations on the win over Minnesota, 29-6!

1-Michigan earns 6 red zones, and converts 5 into 23 points; Minnesota gets 2 red zones for only 6 points. Michigan converts the sole Gopher turnover into 7 points while Minnesota couldn't capitalize off the one Michigan turnover.

2-Sheridan was 18 of 30 for 203 yards and a TD plus 5 carries for 17 yards. Offense had 20 first downs, 435 net yards, 10 of 20 on 3rd and 4th down conversions, and dominated time of possession by 8 and a half minutes resulting in an additional 20 plays. Odoms caught 7 for 43 yards, and Mathews got 6 for 79 yards and a TD. McGuffie caught a 39 yarder, Clemons caught two for 27 yards and Stonum got one for 10 yards.

3-Minor had 53 yards in 14 carries until he left with reaggravating his wrist injury after being slammed to the ground. Feagin had 7 carries for 49 yards in his debut as an offensive contributor at quarterback. Shaw contributed 71 yards in 8 carries, and caught a 5 yard pass. McGuffie had 3 carries for 16 yards, and a 21 yard kickoff return. Moundros scored his first rushing TD as a Wolverine on a 3 yard romp. Net rushing was 232 yards. Offensive line was solid, no sacks on Sheridan.

4-Defense had its best game of the year forcing 6 three and outs, 7 punts, and holding the Gopher offense to six points in 2 red zones. Minnesota netted 188 yards of total offense, 5 of 15 in 3rd and 4th down conversions and 8 first downs. Defense comes up with 4 sacks (Graham, Jamison, Harrison and Ezeh), and knocked out the Gopher wideout Decker early in the game with a great hit by Trent. Trent also picked off Weber to cement the win. Ezeh had 7 tackles. Jamison and Harrison had 6, and Jamison forced a fumble.

5-Lopata hit 5 field goals, Mesko engineered a fake punt for a 7 yard first down, Gingell hit some nice kickoffs including one touchback and Odoms gets 20 yards on 3 punt returns. Mesko punted three times with one shank. Special teams was excellent except the two fumbles on the kickoff by Cissoko; luckily, walk-on Heininger recovered it at the 9!

6-Team played like they are on a mission! Great game preparation, solid game plan and good game adjustments! We met their speed and push early, and didn't flinch. Finally, a well coached game for Rodriquez and staff. It was nice to see him smiling and congratulating his players.
Observations on the first half with Minnesota, 16-0!

1-Michigan earns 4 red zones, and converts 3 into 13 points in an almost flawless first half barring the one red zone turnover. Minnesota gets no red zones, and zero points off one Michigan turnover.

2-Sheridan was 11 of 21 for 130 yards and a TD plus 5 carries for 17 yards. Feagin has 4 carries for 44 yards. Offense has 11 first downs, 257 net yards, 6 of 13 on 3rd and 4th down conversions, and dominates time of possession by 6 minutes resulting in an additional 19 plays. Odoms caught 5 for 25 yards, and Mathews got 3 for 39 yards and a TD. McGuffie caught a 39 yarder and Clemons caught two for 29 yards.

3-Minor had 52 yards in 12 carries, and net rushing was 127 yards.

4-Defense has its best game of the year forcing 6 three and outs and 7 punts in 7 possessions while allowing only 1 first down. Minnesota netted 46 yards of total offense.

5-Lopata hits 3 field goals, Mesko engineers a fake punt, Gingell handles some nice kickoffs and Odoms gets 20 yards on 3 punt returns. Mesko punted twice with one shank. Special teams was excellent!

6-Team is playing like they are on a mission! Hopefully the mission will continue for 4 quarters after a near perfect two quarters.
