Observations on the first half with Washington, 7- 7
Washington scored 7 points in two red zone trips; Michigan couldn't gain one red zone. Neither team had any turnovers. Michigan had a narrow time of possession advantage of 1:16, but Washington ran one more offensive play.
Offense gained 220 net yards with 69 on the ground, and was 1 of 6 in 3rd and 4th down conversions with 12 first downs. Bryce Underwood hit 14 of 20 passes for 151 yards and a TD. Jordan Marshall ran 9 times for 47 yards, and caught 3 passes for 20 yards.. Donovan McCulley caught a pass for 15 yards, and ran a reverse for 11 yards; he also almost had a passs intercepted on an attempt. Andrew Marsh caught 4 passes for 42 yards and a TD. Deokon Tonielli caught 2 passes for 10 yards. Zach Marshall caught 3 passes for 47 yards. Channing Goodwin and Semaj Morgan each caught one pass each. Rylon Dillard-Allen and Makell Esteen led Washington with 4 tackles each.
Defense allowed the Huskies 187 net yards with 32 on the ground; they were 4 of 7 in 3rd down conversions with 10 first downs. Demond Williams hit 14 of 19 passes for 155 yards, and was sacked once for -4 yards in 4 carries. Jonah Coleman caught 3 passes for 41 yards. Raiden Vines-Bright caught 3 passes for 35 yards including a 31 yarder that set up a red zone. Denzel Boston caught 2 passes for 52 yards including a 48 yarder that set up a red zone. Jonah Coleman ran 8 times for 27 yards and a TD. Zeke Berry led the defense with 6 tackles and a pass break up.
Special Teams was bad. Dominic Zvada missed another field goal, and Hudson Hollenbeck had one punt for a measly 35 yards. The Huskies also missed a field goal, and they punted twice with one downed inside the 20.
Second Half should continue to be a defensive struggle. Hopefully, the Wolverines will prevail. Go Blue.
