Observations on the first half with Western Michigan, 27-7
Michigan gained 10 points in two red zones; Western Michigan scored 7 points in one red zone. Neither team had any turnover.
Offense gained 12 first downs, 266 yards with 136 on the ground. Cade McNamara was 8 of 10 for 130 yards and 2 TDs. Hassan Haskins ran 12 times for 76 yards and a TD. Blake Corum added 66 yards on 11 carries. Ronnie Bell caught a 76 yard TD pass, but left the game after a 31 yard punt return with a knee injury. Time of possession was almost even, and the Wolverines converted on 5 of 8 in 3rd and 4th down efficiency. A.J. Thomas led the Broncos with 7 tackles.
Defense held the Broncos to 7 first downs and 134 total yards. Kaleb Eleby was 9 of 18 for 89 yards, and was 4 of 8 in 3rd down conversions. La'Darius Jefferson gained 24 yards on 6 carries for a TD. Josh Ross led the defense with 5 tackles, and Nikhai Hill-Green had 4 stops. Mazi Smith and Josh Ross had 2 quarterback hits each, and Aidan Hutchinson had one.
Special Teams did a nice job! Jake Moody hit two field goals, and had several touchbacks on kickoffs. Ronnie Bell had a 31 yard punt return, and Blake Corum set up a score with a 79 yard kickoff return. Brad Robbins kicked a 40 yard punt.
