Observations on the first half with Utah, 10-13

Utah converts two red zones for 6 points; the Wolverines cannot earn one red zone. Michigan scores 7 points off one Utah turnover while the Utes can't score off one Wolverine turnover.

Offense held the ball 4 minutes more than the Utes, but couldn't muster much of an attack; both teams had 35 offensive plays. Devin Gardner was 8 of 17 for 100 yards with one interception and two sacks. Devin Funchess caught 4 passes for 82 yards, but tipped up a Gardner pass for a Utah pick. Derrick Green ran for 50 yards in 10 carries. Offense had 9 first downs but was only 4 of 10 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Jared Norris has 7 tackles, 2 for loss to lead the Utes.

Defense played well! Utah was forced into 3 three and outs, and gained 128 net yards, 7 first downs, was 4 of 10 in 3rd down conversions. Utah has only 3 net rushing yards. Willie Henry tipped and intercepted a pass for a TD. Jake Ryan had 7 tackles, one for loss. Frank Clark had a sack. Jourdan Lewis had a huge TD saving tackle at the 25; the defense held to a field goal as a result. Don't think Travis Wilson will return so we must contain Kendal Thompson; Wilson was 7 of 9 for 92 yards.

Special Teams sucked! We allowed a 66 yard punt return for a TD by Kaelin Clay. Matt Wile hit a 42 yard field goal. Will Hagerup punted 4 times with one downed at the 2. Andy Phillips hit two field goals and 3 touchbacks on kickoffs for the Utes.

2nd Half will be a nailbiter! Got to get the offense untracked if we are to have a chance! Go Blue!
