Observations on the first half with Texas-El Paso, 17-14
The Texas-El Paso Miners forced two Michigan turnovers, and cashed them into 14 points; one in the red zone after a Wolverine fumble. Michigan responded with two touchdowns, one in two red zone trips
Offense gained 216 total yards with 66 on the ground; they had 14 first downs, and were 6 of 8 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Bryce Underwood hit 14 of 17 passes for 150 yards for one TD; he also fumbled away a turnover in the red zone. Andrew Marsh caught 7 passes for 59 yards. J.J. Buchanan caught 4 passes for 57 yards and a TD. Jordan Marshall ran 7 times for 24 yards, and caught a 16 yard pass. Savion Hiter ran 7 times for 26 yards, but fumbled for a second Wolverine red zone turnover. Michigan held a 5 minute time of possession advantage that resulted in 20 more offensive plays. Justin Content led the Miners with 8 tackles.
Defense allowed the Miners 122 total yards with 40 on the ground; they had 6 first downs, and were one of four in 3rd down conversions. EJ Colson hit 6 of 6 passes for 82 yards and 2 TDs; he ran 5 times for -3 yards after one sack. Defense forced 3 punts, but no turnovers. Rod Moore and Troy Bowles led the Wolverines with 4 tackles each.
Special Teams were good with a half ending field goal by Trey Butkowski. Cam Brown punted once for 45 yard.
