Observations on the first half with USC, 7-14
USC gained 3 red zones for 14 points; Michigan gained one red zone for 7 points. The Wolverines couldn't score off one Trojan turnover.
Offense was poor! Michigan gained 151 total yards with 68 on the ground, and 10 first downs; the Wolverines were 2 of 4 in 3rd down conversions. Bryce Underwood hit 8 of 12 passes for 79 yards and a TD. Justice Haynes ran 10 times for 51 yards, but was hurt and didn't return. Jordan Marshall had 5 carries for 21 yards. Donoven McCulley had 2 receptions for 20 yards and a TD. Andrew Marsh had 4 receptions for 50 yards.
Defense can't hold the Trojan offense! USC gained 242 net yards with 72 on the ground and 13 first downs; they were 4 of 7 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Jayden Maiava hit15 of 18 for 181 yards and 2 TDs. Waymond Jordan ran 11 times for 39 yards, but he also left the game with injury. Makai Lemon had 4 catches for 63 yards and a TD. Ja'Kobi Lane had 4 receptions for 24 yards and a TD. Walker Lyons had 2 receptions for 42 yards. USC had a 3 minute time of possession advantage that led to 7 more offensive plays. Ernest Hausmann led the defense with 7 tackles.
Special Teams were not much of a factor. Neither team attempted a field goal. USC punted once, and Michigan punted twice; each team had one downed inside the 20.
In the Second Half, we need to possess the ball and get some offense going if we are to come out on top. I'm not sure if our defensive backs can cover the Trojan receivers. Go Blue!
