Observations on the first half with UNLV, 21-0
Michigan bullied their way for 4 red zones, and converted 3 for 21 points; UNLV couldn't get past midfield. No turnovers or penalties for either team.
Offense rolled up 280 net yards with 92 on the ground; Michigan was 6 of 8 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. J.J. McCarthy hit 17 of 18 passes for 188 yards; he also ran 3 times for 38 yards. Blake Corum ran 11 times for 46 yards and 2 TDs; he also caught 2 passes for 23 yards. Donovan Edwards ran 5 times for 8 yards, and caught 3 passes for 21 yards. Cornelius Johnson caught 3 passes for 44 yards. Roman Wilson caught 3 passes for 42 yards and a TD. Tyler Morris had 3 catches for 40 yards.
Defense was solid! UNLV had only 42 yards with -16 on the ground, and 5 first downs; the Rebels were 2 of 6 on 3rd down conversions. Kenneth Grant, Kris Jenkins and Mike Sainristil had 4 tackles each to lead the defense. Doug Brumfield was sacked 5 times, and the Wolverines had 7 tackles for loss. Jacob De Jesus had 5 catches for 46 yards. Michigan dominated time of possession by 7 minutes which gave them 15 more offensive plays.
Special Teams were solid as they didn't need to punt, and Tommy Doman had all touchbacks on kickoffs except one that went out of bounds. All extra points were hit.
