Observations on the first half with Nebraska, 17-3
Michigan converted both red zones for TDs and 14 points; Nebraska converted one red zone for 3 points. Neither team turned the ball over, but the Cornhuskers recovered their own fumble in their red zone trip.
Offense gained 200 yards with 109 on the ground, and 13 first downs; the Wolverines were 4 of 8 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Blake Corum had 19 carries for 103 yards and a TD. J.J. McCarthy hit only 6 of 13 for 91 yards and a TD. Ronnie Bell caught 2 passes for 34 yards and a TD. Michigan held a 2 minute time of possession advantage resulting in 9 more offensive plays, but also had 2 "three and outs." Luke Reimer has 8 tackles for the Cornhuskers.
Defense held Nebraska to 103 yards with 47 on the ground, and 5 first downs; they were 3 of 8 in 3rd down conversions. Nebraska was forced into 4 punts, and three "3 and outs." Chubba Purdy was 6 of 12 for 56 yards, and ran 5 times for 39 yards until he left with a leg injury. Junior Colson led the Wolverines with 5 tackles including a sack.
Special Teams were solid with a field goal by Moody, but Brad Robbins was injured on a punt; Robbins had 2 punts for 86 yards. A.J. Henning had a 24 yard kickoff return, and 3 punt returns for 12 yards.
