Observations on the first half with Nebraska, 13-0

Offense gained 14 first downs, 224 total yards in 42 plays with a 5 minute time of possession advantage that resulted in 14 more offensive plays; the Wolverines were 3 of 8 in 3rd down conversions. Cade McNamara was 13 of 23 for 148 yards, and was sacked once. Hassan Haskins carried 11 times for 41 yards and a TD. Blake Corum had 5 carries for 39 yards, and 4 receptions for another 35 yards. J.J. McCarthy had an 11 yard run. Both Daylen Baldwin and Cornelius Johnson caught 3 passes each. Mike Sainristil set up a red zone with a 48 yard catch. Luke Schoonover contributed a 24 yard reception. Joel Honigford caught a 10 yard pass.
Defense played a SOLID first half after the opening drive that resulted in a red zone stop; they forced the Cornhuskers into 3 punts and a turnover. Nebraska could only muster 6 first downs, and gained 128 total yards in 28 plays; they were 2 of 8 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Adrian Martinez was 5 of 11 for 94 yards with one interception by Daxton Hill. Rahmir Johnson ran 10 times for 25 yards, and caught 2 receptions for 50 yards. Josh Ross led the defense with 6 tackles, and Chris Hinton had 5 stops; David Ojabo had a sack.
Special Teams were also stellar! Jake Moody hit both field goals, and all kickoffs were touchbacks. Brad Robbins punted 3 times with 2 downed inside the 20. A.J. Henning went backwards 5 yards on his only return. Blake Corum only managed a 19 yard kickoff return.
Second Half needs to be an encore of a great defensive performance if we are to prevail. Go Blue!
