Observations on the first half with Iowa, 10-7
Michigan gained two red zones, but only came up with 7 points; Iowa had no red zones. Neither team turned the ball over.
Offense gained 232 yards with 70 on the ground, and 12 first downs; they were 3 of 8 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Bryce Underwood hit 11 of 16 passes for 162 yards and a TD; he ran 7 times for 16 yards. Jordan Marshall ran 7 times for 30 yards. Savion Hiter ran 5 times for 19 yards. Bryson Kuzdzal ran once for 5 yards. J.J. Buchanan caught 4 passes for 81 yards and a TD. Andrew Marsh caught 4 passes for 65 yards. Hogan Hansen caught 2 passes for 13 yards. Jalen Hoffman caught a 3 yard pass. The Wolverines dominated time of possession by 7 minutes, and it resulted in 11 more offensive plays.
Defense was solid! Iowa gained only 77 yards with 30 on the ground; they had 5 first downs, and were one of 6 in 3rd down conversions. Hank Bauer hit 6 of 12 for 47 yards. Kamari Moulton ran 7 times for 27 yards. Reece Vander Zee caught 2 passes for 22 yards. Jyaire Hill led the defense with 4 tackles. Tariq Boney got a sack, and Dom Nichols combined with John Henry Daley for the other sack.
Special Teams came up short with a 99 yard TD return by Braeden Jackson that has kept Iowa in the game. Trey Butkowski hit a 41 yard field goal. Cam Brown punted twice for a 41 yard average. Boston Everitt punted 4 times for Iowa with two downed inside the 20.
