Observations on the first half with Indiana, 0-6
Indiana gained two Michigan turnovers, and converted them into two red zones for 6 points. Michigan had no red zone.
Offense is continuing their pathetic ways. The Wolverines gained 84 net yards with 19 on the ground in 7 first half drives; they were two of 8 in 3rd down conversions with 7 first downs. When will Jason Beck be fired? Beck makes $3 million as Offensive Coordinator for this piece of crap unit. Tommy Carr was 9 of 14 for 65 yards with one intercepion and one fumble for two turnovers; he ran 7 times for 15 yards after deducting one sack. Jordan Marshall ran 6 times for 11 yards. Savion Hiter ran twice for one yard. Bryce Underwood ran once for -1, and Bryson Kuzdzal ran twice for 2 yards. Andrew Marsh caught 3 passes for 20 yards. J.J. Buchanan caught two passes for 12 yards. Travis Johnson caught an 11 yarder. Channing Goodwin caught an eight yarder, and both Hogan Hansen anbd Jalen Hoffman caught one each for 7 yards each. Amare Ferrell and Rolijah Hardy led the Hoosiers with 5 tackles each; Ferrell had the interception.
Defense was solid! They held Indiana to 138 yards in net offense with 78 on the ground; the Hoosiers had 8 first downs, and were 3 of 9 in 3rd down conversions. Josh Hoover hit 7 of 16 for 60 yards, and ran once for 3 yards.. Lee Beebe ran 6 times for 41 yards. Turbo Richard ran 11 times for 34 yards. Charlie Becker caught 3 passes for 32 yards. Nick Marsh grabbed two for 25 yards. Former Wolverine, Tyler Morris, had one catch for 3 yards. Indiana held the ball one minute longer, and it resulted in two more offensive plays. Chris Bracy led the defense with 8 tackles. Zeke Berry had 5 tackles plus a pass break up.
Special Teams were led by Cam Brown with 3 punts; two were downed inside teh 20. Billy Gowers punted 4 times with two also downed inside the 20. Trey Butkowski missed a 53 yard field goal; Nico Radicic also missed a 56 yard field goal, but he hit two earlier to give Indiana the halftime advantage.
Second Half will continue to be a close low-scoring defensive battle. If we are to win, we must win the turnover battle; right now, we are -2. No running game, no turnover advantage=no win. Go Blue!
