Observations on the first half with Alabama, 16-10

Michigan converted 3 red zones from Alabama 3 turnovers for 13 points; the Crimson Tidge gained one red zone with second to go in the half for 3 points. The Wolverines scored 3 points off those turnovers.

Offense came up with 109 total yards with only 43 on the ground; the Wolverines had only 6 first downs, and were 3 of 9 in 3rd down conversions. Davis Warren hit 8 of 11 passes for 66 yards and a TD. Jordan Marshall ran 9 times for 31 yards. Ben Hall ran 9 times for 21 yards. Freddy Moore caught 3 passes for 37 yards and a TD, and ran once for 3 yards. Hogan Hansen caught a pass for 10 yards. Joe Taylor caught a 9 yarder. Peyton O'Leary caught a 7 yarder. Michigan had a 7:40 time of possession advantage, but it only resulted in one more offensive play. Jihaad Campbell led the Crimson Tide with 10 tackles.

Defense was phenomenal until the final drive of the half! Alabama gained 163 net yards with 65 on the ground, and 8 first downs; they were 3 of 8 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Jalen Milroe was 7 of 12 for 98 yards with one TD and one interception. Milroe ran 11 times for 14 yards after 3 sacks were deducted, but the 41 yard scamper on a 3rd and 1 help to set up their last field goal. Rico Scott had a 28 yard gain. Jamarion Miller had 6 carries for 17 yards. Germie Bernard had 2 receptions for 51 yards. Robbie Ouzts caught a 25 yard TD pass, and burned Brandyn Hillman. Aamir Hall led the Wolverines with 5 tackles including a sack and a forced fumble plus a pass break up. Derrick Moore has 3 tackles including 2 sacks. Wesley Walker has 2 tackles plus a red zone interception. Freshman Dominic Nichols forced the other fumble.

Special Teams has been excellent. Dominic Zvada hit 3 field goals. Hudson Hollenbeck punted 3 times for a 40.3 yard average with two downed inside the 20. Bryson Kuzdzal had a nice tackle on a punt return, and Kechaun Bennett had a nice kickoff tackle at the 15.

Second Half will be another nailbiter! We have to generate some offense if we are to prevail; we can't just rely on our defense to win this one. Go Blue!
