Observations on the first half with East Carolina, 23-0

Offense rolled up 242 net yards, but only 61 on the ground. J.J. McCarthy hit 16 of 18 passes for 181 yards for 2 TDs. The Wolverines had 14 first downs with 4 of 5 in 3rd down conversions. Blake Corum had 6 times for 36 yards and a TD. Roman Wilson grabbed 5 passes for 63 yards and 2 TDs. Colston Loveland and Cornelius Johnson had 3 receptions each for 43 and 40 yards

Defense was led by Michael Barrett and Junior Colson with 5 tackles each. East Carolina was held to 5 first downs, and 4 of 9 in 3rd down conversions; they had 113 total yards with 47 on the ground. Time of possession was pretty even, and Michigan had only one more offensive play as a result.

Special Teams ended the half with a 50 yard field goal by James Turner, but Tommy Doman missed an extra point. Doman punted once for 45 yards. Jake Thaw had 2 returns for 6 yards on punts.
