Observations on the first half with Akron, 7-3

Michigan gains two red zones, but come up empty. Akron gains three Wolverine turnovers, but can't convert any into points. The 46 of 46 scores in red zone steak is over.

Offense is pathetic! Gardner is 11 of 19 for 166 yards, 1 TD, but 2 interceptions plus a fumble for 3 turnovers. Fitz Touissaint has been held to 17 yards in 8 carries. Michigan has 185 net yards in 32 plays with 9 first downs, and a measly 19 rushing yards. We are 2 of 5 in 3rd down conversions. Devin Funchess had 2 catches for 65 yards and a TD. Jeremy Gallon had 3 catches for 30 yards.

Defense still continues to create no pass rush. Akron has dominated time of possession by 3 minutes because of the 3 turnovers. The Zips had 125 net yards, and were 4 of 10 in 3rd down conversions. Blake Countess had one interception for 45 yards, and 4 tackles. James Ross and Thomas Gordon led the defense with 5 stops each. Pohl was 9 of 22 for the Zips for 82 yards.

Matt Wile shanked another punt for a 21 yarder. Gibbons missed his only field goal attempt, and ruined his 16 of 16 streak.

We are being outplayed by the Zips, but also outcoached by Terry Bowden and Chuck Amato. Hopefully, Coach Hoke and staff can inspire the team at halftime.
