Observations on the first half with Fresno State, 10-3
Michigan had one red zone for 7 points, and the Wolverines converted 7 points off one Bulldog turnover.
Offense netted only 89 total yards with 7 first downs, and was zero for four in 3rd down conversions. Davis Warren was 8 of 10 for 51 yards with one interception and one sack. Alex Orji passed once for a 3 yard TD to Donovan Edwards. Edwards could only gain 3 yards in 5 carries, and had two catches for zero yards. Kalel Mullings gained 32 yards in 9 carries. Semaj Morgan had a jet sweep for 9 yards. Colston Loveland had 4 catches for 40 yards. Kendrick Bell had a catch for 11 yards, and Tyler Morris had a catch for 3 yards. Cameron Lockridge had 4 tackles and an interception plus a pass break up to lead the Bulldog defense; Fresno State had 4 tackles for loss. Michigan had a 3 minute time of possession advantage, but Fresno State ran two more plays.
Defense held Fresno State to 97 yards in total offense with 5 first downs; they were one of 7 in 3rd down conversions. Mikey Keene hit 8 of 16 for 72 yards with one interception. Malik Sherrod gained 23 yards in 9 carries. Jalen Moss had 4 receptions for 57 yards. Rayshaun Benny and Mason Graham led the defense with 3 tackles each. Special Teams were good on kickoffs as Tommy Doman punted for touchbacks on all attempts, but was sub-standard on punts with 3 punts for a 40 yard average.
