There were 252 commitments to 12 Big Ten Football Programs with 10 of those being Junior College or Post Graduates. 95 of those recruits were considered to be 4 stars. The State of Ohio has the most NCAA Division I Football prospects of any state in the Big Ten region. There are 44 Big Ten pledges from the State of Ohio and 14 of those are with the Buckeyes. Michigan has done the second best job recruiting in the State of Ohio. Illinois is second in the amount of Big Ten pledges with 28, and the Fighting Illini had 9 pledges of the 29 Big Ten signees. In Michigan, Michigan had the most commitments. Penn State, Indiana and Wisconsin continue to be the leaders in their own home states with pledges.

According to Tom Lemming of CBS Sports and MaxPreps, Texas has 333 Divison I Football recruits, Florida has 278, California has 238, Georgia has 161, Ohio has 129, Louisiana has 77, North Carolina has 75, Alabama has 62, Illinois has 59, Mississippi has 56, Pennsylvania has 50, Virginia has 49, Michigan has 48, South Carolina has 45, New Jersey has 44, Tennessee has 41, Arizona has 39, Oklahoma has 38, Maryland and Utah have 33 each, Indiana has 29, New York has 28, Arkansas has 27 and Washington has 21. One could say that a Division I Football coach may be ten times more effective in Texas as compared to Arkansas. Coaches need to go where the top talent is, and retain the talent in their home state. We only have 370 Divison I Football prospects in our 9 state region for 12 teams to share where Texas has 333 prospects in their state with 10 Division I teams in Texas.
