Observations on the first half with Ohio State, 17-20

Ohio State converted both red zones for 10 points; Michigan had no red zones. Neither team had any turnovers.

Michigan gained 214 yards with a measly 10 on the ground, and only 4 first downs with three "3 and outs." J.J. McCarthy was 8 of 14 for 204 yards with 2 TDs to Cornelius Johnson. Johnson has 4 catches for 160 yards and 2 TDs. Ronnie Bell has 2 catches for 41 yards. The Wolverines have tried to run the ball 11 times with the longest run of 5 yards by Donovan Edwards. Edwards has a cast on his right arm, and Blake Corum had to be benched after 2 carries for 6 yards when he couldn't cut on his bad knee. Cameron Brown leads Ohio State with 4 tackles

The Buckeyes have 315 total yards with 124 on the ground and 191 in the air with 16 first downs. C.J. Stroud is 17 of 26 for 191 yards and 2 TDs. Deamonte Trayanum has 8 carries for 64 yards. Miyan Williams has 8 carries for 34 yards. Emeka Egbuka has 5 receptions for 53 yards and a TD. Marvin Harrison Jr. has 3 catches for 79 yards and a TD. Ohio State holds an 8 minute time of possession advantage that resulted in 21 more offensive plays. Michael Barrett leads the defense with 7 tackles. Will Johnson and Junior Colson have 5 tackles each. Defense has to continue to adjust if we are to stop the powerful Buckeye offense, and we have to get pressure on Stroud; so far, we have put little pressure on him.

Both teams converted their field goal attempt with Noah Ruggles hitting 2, and Jake Moody kicking one. Brad Robbins punted 4 times for a 42.5 yard average. Jesse Mirco had 2 punts for a 52 yard average. Xavier Johnson has 3 kickoff returns for 58 yards. A.J. Henning has a 6 yard punt return.

Michigan will not win this game unless they can get their running game going; they cannot win it in the air only unless the Buckeyes give up turnovers to help. We must even up the time of possession and offensive plays in the second half if we are to leave Columbus with a win. Go Blue!
