Observations on the first half with Maryland, 28-0

Michigan converted 4 red zones into 21 points, and scored 7 points off 2 Terrapin turnovers. Maryland couldn't score on their lone red zone near the end of the half.

Offense rolled up 10 first downs, 212 net yards with 98 on the ground, and was 2 of 5 in 3rd down conversions. Karan Higdon rushed 10 times for 50 yards and caught two passes for another 48 yards. Chris Evans ran 8 times for 43 yards and a TD. Henry Poggi ran for the first time of the season with a 2 yard TD. Brandon Peters threw for 6 of 11 for 114 yards and 2 TDs. Zach Gentry caught 3 passes for 63 yards and a TD. Sean McKeon caugh a 3 yarder for the other TD.

Defense was led by Mo Hurst with 6 tackles including a sack, and Chase Winovich had 5 stops. Maryland gained 6 first downs, 112 net yards with 64 on the ground. Lorenzo Harrison led the Terps with 6 carries for 54 yards including a 36 yarder. Ryan Brand was 7 of 19 for 24 yards with an 80 yard interception return by David Long.

Special Teams continues to be solid on kickoff coverage with James Foug at work; they did give up one return to the 35 though. Josh Metellus blocked a punt that resulted in a red zone TD. Quinn Nordin continues his slump with another miss, this time from 31 yards out just before the end of the half; the miss resulted in a verbal exchange with Coach Harbaugh. Donovan Peoples-Jones failed to call off Benjamin St. Juste again when the ball came near him, and it almost resulted in another turnover. Brad Robbins punted twice, and we missed getting a fumble recovery on one of those. Donovan Peoples-Jones had an 8 yard punt return, and Ambry Thomas had a 13 yard kickoff return.
