Observations on the first half with Michigan State, 28-0

Michigan converted three red zones for 14 points; Michigan State had no red zones. Neither team turned the ball over.

Offense clicked for 339 total yards and 19 first downs as J.J. McCarthy hit 20 of 26 passes for 276 yards and 3 TDs; the Wolverines were 7 of 8 on 3rd down conversions. Blake Corum ran 13 times for 41 yards and a TD, and caught 2 passes for 17 yards. A.J. Barner caught 7 passes for 88 yards. Colston Loveland caught 4 passes for 79 yards and 2 TDs. Donovan Edwards ran 6 times for 14 yards, and caught 3 passes for 23 yards. Roman Wilson caught 2 passes for 50 yards and a TD. Cornelius Johnson caught 2 passes for 19 yards. Offense completedly dominated time of possession by a near 12 minute advantage that resulted in 27 more offensive plays. Malik Spencer had 11 tackles, and Aaron Brule had 8 tackles to lead the Spartan defense.

Defense held Michigan State to 2 first downs, and 51 total yards with three "3 and outs." Katin Houser was 5 of 12 for 41 yards. Junior Colson led the Wolverine defense with 5 tackles. Michigan had one sack, 6 pass break ups, and 2 quarterback hits on Houser as the Spartans were forced into 4 punts. Michigan State was one of seven in 3rd and 4th down conversions.

Special Teams didn't get much work. Tommy Doman punted once for 52 yards. Semaj Morgan began the game with a poor decision to run back the opening kickoff 3 yards deep in the end zone, and ran it to the 16. Tyler Morris had 2 punt returns for 3 yards.
