Observations on the first half with Maryland, 21-0

Michigan gained 3 first half red zones, and converted two for 14 points; Maryland came up empty in their two red zone attempts. The Wolverines failed to score points off the one Terrapin turnover.

Offense could only gain 6 first downs, and ran the ball 14 times for 47 yards while coming up with 113 yards on 7 receptions for 160 yards in 25 plays. Michigan was 4 of 8 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Shea Patterson was 7 of 11 with a 51 yard bomb to Nico Collins to set up their last TD. Hassan Haskins got his second start and carried 5 times for 21 yards with 2 receptions for 9 yards; Zach Charbonnet also carried 5 times for 13 yards and 2 TDs. Sean McKeon caught a 29 yarder just before half to set up the final field goal attempt with 6 seconds to go. Offense spun their wheels with 3 "3 and outs."

Defense came up big when they needed to! Maryland dominated time of possession by nearly 8 minutes; it gave them 10 more offensive plays. They gained 7 first downs and 114 yards in 35 plays with 51 on the ground; the Terps were 4 of 10 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Josh Jackson was 5 of 9 for 63 yards with one interception. Anthony McFarlnad ran 9 times for 30 yards and had a 9 yard reception; Javon Leake ran 8 times for 37 yards. Josh Metellus got 8 tackless with an interception. Jordan Glasgow had 6 stops, and Kwity Paye had 5. Josh Uche had 3 tackles including 2 sacks.

Special Teams came up big! Giles Jackson ran the opening kickoff 97 yards for a TD! Jake Moody kicked off 3 times with 2 touchbacks; however, he missed a 37 yard field goal just before half. Will Hart punted twice for a 51 yard average. Michael Barrett took a fake punt on a wildcat, and scampered for 14 yards on a 4th and 1.
