Observations on the first half with Iowa, 10-0

Michigan gained two red zones for 10 points; Iowa gained no red zones. The Wolverines failed to score off the one Hawkeye turnover.

Offense was quite mediocre! Offense rolled up 111 yards in total offense with 7 first downs after 3 sacks for 32 yards with only 16 yards in net rushing; they were 2 of 8 in 3rd and 4th down conversions with three "3 and outs." J.J. McCarthy was 13 of 18 for 95 yards. Blake Clorum ran 7 times for 15 yards and a TD; he also caught a 5 yard pass. Donovan Edwards ran 3 times for 25 yards; he caught 3 passes for 19 yards. Kalel Mullings ran twice for 8 yards. Cornelius Johnson caught 5 passes for 39 yards. Colston Loveland caught 2 passes for 16 yards. A.J. Barner caught a 13 yard pass. Payton O'Leary caught a 5 yard pass. Michigan had a 3 minute time of possession which gave them 6 more offensive plays. Jay Higgins had 8 tackles for Iowa.

Defense was solid! Iowa gained only 61 total yards with 31 on the ground with 2 first downs; they were 2 of 9 in 3rd down conversions with four "3 and outs." Defense forced the Hawkeyes into 6 punts and a turnover. Deacon Hill was 7 of 12 for 30 yards. Leshon Williams ran 7 times for 19 yards. Kaleb Brown caught 3 passes for 19 yards. Junior Colson had 5 tackles for Michigan.

Special Teams have kept us in the lead after an 87 yard punt return by Semaj Morgan! Tommy Doman punted 4 times for a 40.3 yard average including a 54 yarder, and one downed inside the 20.

Second Half needs to start with a drive to put us up by 3 scores! If so, we could coast, but otherwise this game will be an ugly defensive struggle. Go Blue!
