Observations on the first half with Georgia, 3-27

Georgia converted 3 red zones for 17 points, and scored 27 points in their first 5 possessions. Michigan had two "3 and outs," and could only manage one red zone for 3 points against a stout Bulldog defense.

Offense could only manage 101 total yards with 6 first downs, and only 29 yards rushing; the Wolverines were 2 of 7 in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Cade McNamara hit 8 of 12 for 72 yards, but threw a late interception; he was also sacked twice. The two longest plays for the Wolverines was a 42 yard pass to Isaiah Wilson setting up their only red zone, and a Cade McNamara scramble on the first offensive play of the game for 18 yards. Nakobe Dean led the Bulldogs with 5 tackles including a sack.

Defense couldn't handle the Bulldog offense! Georgia rolled up 330 total yards with 78 on the ground, and 252 in the air; they were 6 of 8 in 3rd down conversions with 13 first downs. Georgia is averaging 9.2 yards per play. Stetson Bennett hit 16 of 22 for 234 yards and 2 TDs, and scrambled for another 20 yards. Brock Bowers caught 5 passes for 55 yards and a TD. Jermaine Burton caught a 57 yard bomb for another TD. Georgia dominated time of possession by 3:18, and it led to 11 more offensive plays. Joss Ross had 7 tackles for the Wolverines.

Special Teams were also dominated by Georgia with two field goals by Jack Podlesny while Jake Moody hit one field goal. Brad Robbins punted twice for a 44.5 yard average, but almost had the last one blocked.

Second Half will be all Georgia! Georgia and Alabama are easily the two best teams, and deserve to be in the Championship game. Go Blue!
