Observations on the first half with Connecticut, 38-0

Offense gained 249 total yards with only 59 on the ground; they had 11 first downs with one of four in 3rd down conversions, and were 5 of 5 in the red zone for 31 points. J.J. McCarthy hit 10 of 13 passes for 190 yards; he ran 3 times for 7 yard after a sack was deducted. Blake Corum ran 9 times for 49 yards and 4 TDs. Ronnie Bell had 5 receptions for 79 yards. A.J. Henning had 3 receptions for 33 yards plus a carry for 3 yards. Roman Wilson caught 2 passes for 47 yards. Luke Schoonmaker caught a 31 yard pass.

Defense was solid! They forced the Huskies into only 4 first downs with 64 total yards, and 4 "3 and outs;" Connecticut was one of nine in 3rd and 4th down conversions. Zion Turner was 3 of 14 for 12 yards; he ran 5 times for 19 yards. Nate Carter ran 6 times for 21 yards. Kris Jenkins led the defense with 4 tackles; Mike Sainristil and Michael Barrett had 3 tackles each. Time of possession and offensive plays was about even; however; the Wolverines scored 3 points off a Husky turnover.

Special Teams were also special! A.J. Henning had 3 punt returns for 65 yards including a 61 yard TD. Kalel Mullings had a 22 yard return of a blocked punt by Caden Kolesar. Roman Wilson started the game with a 26 yard kickoff return. Brad Robbins punted twice for a 57.5 yard average with both downed inside the 20.
